In news that will no doubt cause Liverpool fans nightmares, Raheem Sterling has confirmed, in an interview with the BBC, that he has indeed turned down a £100k-a-week contract offer.
The 20-year-old's future has been discussed throughout this season, with the rumours surrounding his transfer away from Anfield intensifying in recent weeks as reports of contract talks stalling came to the fore.
In the interview with Natalie Pirks, which can be viewed below, Sterling claims he isn't motivated by money, but rather by trophies.
The new contract would see the England international pocketing an extra £65k a week.
We wonder if a guarantee of world class talent arriving at Anfield, thus presenting Sterling with a greater opportunity to lift trophies with Liverpool, but 'only' £50k-a-week would suffice, if it really isn't about the money.
